"She was unstoppable. Not because she did not have failures or doubts, but because she continued on despite them." -Beau Taplin
Ignite has had a season of so many improvements since June. Many of these individuals are new to our program, some even new to allstar cheer. The developments these athletes have made, with help from coaches Brittany and Penny are beyond measure. Ignite has become mentally, emotionally, and physically tough this year. Having three different senior teams this season led to hard work and being pushed beyond comfort zones. These athletes continued to have good attitudes in the good and bad times and came out stronger because of it.
The Fun
For almost every individual on this team, this was their first senior trip ever. They had no expectations of what this trip would be or the impact it would have on them. As a team of fairly new athletes, a trip like this can change their perspective on the sport. Although they did not ride on a bus down their as Blackout (SSr4) did to Orlando (for accessibility reasons in navigating a large bus around Savannah), the girls had fun car pooling with one another and bonding on the drive to Savannah. The athletes were given "swag bags" upon arrival on Friday night that had a tee shirt for the trip, personalized water bottles, and more. Once in Savannah, the girls were allowed to go travel about the city and explore its wonderful history. Whether it was touring old houses, going to local beaches, walking down River Street, or eating at some of the awesome restaurants that Savannah has to offer, the girls and their parents had an awesome time. The team enjoyed a team dinner to bond with one another on Saturday night and recap the events of the day. After dinner on Saturday, the team set out on a ghost tour together, as Savannah is historically known to be one of the most haunted cities in the nation. This fun excursion was a way to bond with one another and take a break from the stress of the weekend. Below are pictures of the fun that was had this weekend:
The Competition
At 9 Panel Nationals, Ignite lit up the competition with their 2 ZERO DEDUCTION performances. The team came out and hit their stunts with execution beyond what we have seen this season. With alterations to their tumbling sections and work on their performance, they showed up ready to win this weekend. With two perfect routines, Ignite landed a spot in the top 3, taking home the title of 2nd Place. We are so proud of all of the athletes that competed and encourage you to keep up the hard work as we finish up the season in Myrtle Beach, SC next weekend.
"You and your opponent want the same thing. The only thing that matters is who works the hardest for it." -Unknown
Ignite would like to thank their wonderful coaches Brittany and Penny for all of the hard work that they have put into perfecting the routine for the season. Also they would like to thank all of the people who participated in fundraisers to make this trip happen. Our supporters are truly out of this world. Next on Cheer Energy's competition journey, all teams will travel to Myrtle Beach to compete at All Star Challenge to wrap up the regular season.
